#### TL;DR

- Anthropic’s planned IPO puts the companies supplying its computing power in focus. Its filing shows up to US$567 billion in future computing and infrastructure commitments.
- Claude uses multiple chip platforms, spreading demand across the infrastructure ecosystem.
- More spending creates supplier opportunities, but does not guarantee profits or investment returns.

Anthropic is preparing to enter the public markets. But the company behind Claude is only one part of the investment story. Its IPO registration, filed on 26 October, says proceeds will help fund computing infrastructure alongside other corporate needs. The preliminary filing does not specify an offering price or size. \[1\] It does, however, show that Anthropic has committed between US$542 billion and US$567 billion to future computing and infrastructure. \[7\]

For investors, that raises a useful question: as Anthropic raises and spends more money, where does that money go?

Behind every Claude response sits physical infrastructure: processors, memory, networking equipment and data centres. Different businesses earn revenue at each stage.

## Four routes to computing power

Anthropic’s filing describes a multi-chip computing architecture across AWS Trainium, Google TPUs, Nvidia GPUs and AMD GPUs. Multiple platforms let it match workloads to different hardware. In April, Anthropic said AWS remained its primary cloud provider and training partner. \[1, 2\]

Amazon supplies cloud infrastructure and its own Trainium processors. Anthropic announced an agreement securing up to five gigawatts of additional capacity and committed more than US$100 billion over ten years to AWS technologies. These are future spending commitments, rather than immediately recognised revenue. \[3\]

Google and Broadcom provide another route. Anthropic has announced additional TPU capacity expected to start coming online in 2027\. Broadcom develops and supplies Google’s custom processors, and its regulatory filing says Anthropic will access about 3.5 gigawatts of TPU-based computing through Broadcom from 2027\. That use depends on Anthropic’s continued commercial success. \[2, 4\]

## The suppliers beneath the processors

TSMC provides fabrication and advanced packaging, including technology that connects processors with high-speed memory. Its role sits upstream of AI computing systems; this does not establish a direct Anthropic contract. \[5\]

Memory is another essential input: powerful processors need data delivered quickly. Anthropic names SK hynix, Samsung and Micron as strategic infrastructure partners, without disclosing how much business each receives or which supplier serves every system. All three also invested in Anthropic’s Series H funding round, making them both suppliers and shareholders. \[6, 8, 9\]

## The supply chain behind Claude

## THE EDIT

Anthropic’s IPO could help finance further expansion. Demand for Claude—and the economics of serving it—will determine whether that expansion is sustainable. For investors watching its suppliers, three questions matter:

1. **How direct is the exposure?**A disclosed contract offers different visibility from general participation in the AI supply chain.
2. **When does spending become revenue?**Capacity commitments can take years to deploy and remain subject to contractual conditions.
3. **Who retains the profit?**Pricing power, production costs and competition determine how much spending reaches suppliers’ bottom lines.

> Anthropic may attract the IPO headlines. Its infrastructure bill could spread the opportunity much further.
